Devore Sr. Mr. Devore was born in Baldwin Park, California and raised in Passaic, New Jersey. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during which time he was stationed in the far east as a radio operator. A graduate of Seton Hall University and the University of Bridgeport, he worked in a corporate accounting position for Pepperidge Farms, Beech Nut Corporation, Alcan Aluminum and was controller for Teledyne.
Most recently he owned Comprehensive Accounting in Forest Park, GA. for 18 years. After his retirement in 1998 he enjoyed volunteering as a reader at Hickory Flat Elementary School. Along with his wife, he was involved in mentoring engaged couples through the Marriage Encounter program. He enjoyed volunteering as a store keeper at Stately Oaks Plantation in Jonesboro.
He was deeply involved in church activities and enjoyed sports, reading, gardening and political activity, but most of all he delighted in his family, his friends, his community and his faith and though he is with God now, his wisdom, his humor and his love endure. in the South View Cemetery in Thomaston, Georgia. Mrs. Colquitt was born in Dowelltown, Tennessee, and was also a former native of Thomaston, Georgia. In 1948, she and her husband Hubert Colquitt, relocated to Smyrna, Georgia where they worked as a team through the years to develop their retail businesses. She was instrumental to their partnership, mostly working behind the scenes as a buyer and decorator.
Also, Mrs. Colquitt has been a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Smyrna. Mrs. Colquitt is predeceased by Hubert Colquitt. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Donna Colquitt of McDonough; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Steve Ruddell of Smyrna, Claire and Mark Curtis of St.
Augustine, FL; 7 grandchildren, Russ and Jeff Ruddell, Leslie Ruddell Moore, Gavin and Bryce Colquitt, Megan Curtis Leathers, and Sarah Curtis Bennett; one great-grandchild, Jeffrey Chandler Ruddell. He was born April 17, 1920 in Geevagh, County Sligo, Ireland, to the late Owen and Catherine Waters Cullen. In 1923, he emigrated to the U.S. and was raised in Oswego, NY and New York City by his adoptive parents, the late Dr. Francis C. Clark and Mary Nangle Clark.
He graduated from All Hallows High School in New York City, Niagara University, and Georgetown University School of Medicine. His surgical training was at Jersey City Medical Center in NJ and Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Dr. Clark was a Captain in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War as a thoracic surgeon. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to Asheville, and practiced thoracic and general surgery in Buncombe, and Cherokee counties and in Atlanta, Georgia.
Surviving are his daughter, Catherine Clark Latta of Manteo; three sons, Francis C. Clark, of Davidson, Kevin O. Clark, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and Cullen P. Clark, of Lithia Springs, Georgia; brothers, Thomas Cullen of Sussex England, Michael Cullen, of West Yorkshire, England, and Peter Cullen of Geevagh, Co. Sligo; sisters, Annie Cullen Cawley of Sligo and Theresa Cullen Lynch of Michigan; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary M. Chapman, age 93 of Douglasville, Ga, died Monday, February 16, 2004. She was born April 7, 1910 in Douglasville, GA, daughter of the late William and Maude Morris, she was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Chapman, a granddaughter, Jill Chapman and former husband, V.V. Chapman, Sr. Ms.
Chapman was a graduate of Young Harris College and West Georgia College. She was a retired elementary school teacher with the Douglas Co. Board of Education. Ms. Chapman was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary of Parkway Hospital and Douglas Hospital.
She was a member of the Lively Sunday school class and a member of First United Methodist Church of Douglasville. Survivors include, son and daughter- in-law, Joe and Shirley Chapman, Monroe, GA; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Chapman, Douglasville, GA; brothers, Howard Morris, Douglasville, GA, Marvin Morris, Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Scott Chapman, Acworth, GA, Pattie Chapman, Gainesville, GA. Bill, as he was known to family and friends, was a native of New Orleans, LA, but he grew up and lived in Atlanta, GA.
Bill was the son of the late Martin Luther and Berdie Henrietta Morgan Benson. Bill attended Grady High School and was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a BS degree in industrial management. Upon graduation from the Georgia Tech, Bill received a commission and served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant, he became a Certified Public Accountant and earned his MBA from Georgia State University.
Bill worked in the public accounting field until his death. He was owner of James W. Benson, CPA, a public accounting firm in Atlanta, GA. In passing, we have lost a truly good and honorable man. The surviving family is comforted that through the grace of God they will all be united again.

Ms. Banks was born and reared in Thomaston, Georgia. She moved to Atlanta and began a long career with the State of Georgia. After working in the Department of Revenue, she spent many years in the administration division of the Office of Secretary of State, Ben W. Fortson, Jr.
She then worked in the House Information Office for the Georgia General Assembly. Claudette retired in 1996, and shortly thereafter, suffered a stroke from which she never fully recovered. She is survived by her mother, Essie Kate George; her sister, Patricia Ann Roland; her daughters, Kelli Carpenter Stanyard and Patricia Kate Carpenter Robins; their spouses; her grandchildren, Zachary William Stanyard, Caitlin Elizabeth Stanyard, Hadley Earl Robins, IV and Georgia Claudette Robins; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
