Winchester Cathedral is dog friendly. Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside the cathedral but must always be kept on leads and you must not leave your dog unattended. Dogs are not permitted at events, services, tours, or inside the Morley library or café.

Admission
Like many other cathedrals, we charge visitors an admission fee for entry, which helps to defray our maintenance and running costs. Your visit also helps to support the work of the Dean and Chapter. We are reliant on the contribution made by our congregation, community and visitors.
How to make your Admission go further
If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. It is a scheme administered by HMRC which allows us to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate.
So, for example, if you Gift Aid two adult annual passes £27 we can claim an extra £6.75, making your gift worth £33.75 at no cost to you!

How to find us
The Cathedral lies right in the centre of the historic city of Winchester, with its excellent road and rail links. Southampton Airport and the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth are all within easy reach.
As with many historic cities, parking within the centre is limited. Where possible we strongly advise visitors to make use of public transport.
Travelling by train
Winchester has excellent rail links to London, Southampton, Basingstoke, Reading, the Midlands and beyond. The Cathedral is situated a 12 minute stroll from Winchester Train Station; you’ll stroll through the hustle and bustle of the historic high street on your way. It’s a great way to travel to the cathedral, and very environmentally friendly too, plan your visit below.
Travelling by bus
Another environmentally friendly way to travel to the cathedral is by bus. With bus stops dotted around the city of Winchester, the cathedral is always a short stroll away.
Stagecoach provides bus services into the city and currently operate the Park and Ride services for Winchester. For timetables and routes click here.
By road
Winchester is well connected to the motorway network and can be easily accessed from all directions. Located just off the M3 (Junctions 9, 10 & 11), it’s an easy journey by road from London (1.5 hours) and Southampton (20 minutes). Take the A34 from Newbury (35 minutes), Oxford (1 hour) and the A30 from Salisbury (40 minutes).
City car parks and Park & Ride
There is no parking within the Cathedral Close or the immediate vicinity.
Winchester has a number of short-stay and long-stay car parks throughout the city. It has an excellent Park & Ride service, with three car parks easily accessible from the M3 motorway and only minutes away from the city centre. A frequent bus service operates from all Park & Ride car parks to all main areas of Winchester city centre.

Visitors' Chaplains
Visitors’ chaplains, identifiable by their bright blue chaplain’s collar, and are available in the Cathedral on most days. As well as leading hourly prayers, they are available for a chat, to listen and to offer informal prayer.
